Beertje Vonk
Beertje is a contemporary Dutch artist who finished her art degree in The Netherlands and moved to the UK in 1993. She has done many private commissions both in the Netherlands as well as the UK for both companies, galleries, interior designers and private clients.
She has a specific affinity for depicting dogs, children and landscapes and took up competing in Open Art Exhibitions in 2016, in which year she sold her preselected drawing of a lurcher to the organiser of the National Open Art Exhibition .
“My aim with my work is to capture the distilled magic we can find in nature and in every day life, whether that is in still life, landscape or portraits..I try to depict the joy we experience when we engage with the world around us , and to do this with economic brush strokes, and in the case of my drawings, with economic pen strokes or pencil strokes.” - Beertje Vonk
She won the prize for best drawing at the Bath Society of Artists in 2020 with a drawing of a landscape around Marlborough . She has taken part in several projects celebrating the NHS during the pandemic, and fundraising for Humanitarian aid during the Ukraine War
She took part in the project Artists create #PortraitsForNHSHeroes in 2020 and took part with four of her portraits of NHS workers in an interactive display called ‘Rainbows for the NHS.'
She has sold and donated paintings under the " Give With Art" project with 50% of proceeds gong to Ukrainian Relief , under the Tolstoy Edit with 100% going to the Ukrainian Red Cross, and paintings auctioned by the Bath Society of Artists with 100% going to the Disasters Emergency Committee in 2022.
