Cathy Pearce

Cathy graduated from Central St. Martins with an honours degree in Textile Design specialising in printed textiles. Her drawing skills and art appreciation were developed as a child growing up surrounded by art books and paintings.

Specialising in pastel since 2012, Cathy’s current work features landscapes from around her home on the edge of Roundway Hill and floral still life. Not content with being confined by a traditional linear style of pastel painting she has developed more contemporary techniques using alcohol washes, sgraffito and mixed media to allow her work to be expressive without losing integrity of subject.

In 2020 Cathy became an associate artist for the prestigious Unison Colour, maker of hand rolled artists pastels based in Northumberland with whom she is associated with various on line workshops and tutorials. One-to-one pastel workshops and group sessions occupy much of Cathy’s professional life.

2022 saw Cathy exhibit a painting at the Mall Galleries, chosen to be included in the Pastel Society’s 123rd annual show.

Also a fully exhibiting member of Marlborough Open Studios from her home studio in Wiltshire.
